Obituary for Barbara Jane Spencer (Wilgus)
Barbara Jane Spencer of Potosi, Missouri, was born on February 18, 1951 in Trenton, New Jersey, a daughter of the late Nelson Oliver Wilgus Sr. and the late Ilene Jean Wilgus. Barb passed away on October 5, 2022, having reached the age of seventy-one years, seven months, and seventeen days.
Those who remain to cherish his memory include her husband, James Spencer; children: Christy Josey (husband, Nathan), Michael Spencer (wife, Mary), and Eric Spencer (wife, Gina); twelve grandchildren; great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren; siblings; Gary Wilgus, Brenda Blake (husband, Dennis); nieces, and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Barb was preceded in death by her son, Jeffrey Spencer; three grandchildren; siblings: Nelson Wilgus, Billy Wilgus, Sharon Doty, Ilene Casmoore, and Linda Fewcs.
Barb loved crocheting, painting, and spending time with her grandchildren and family. Barb was an honest hard working lady. She obtained her bachelors degree from John Tyler Community College in Virginia. She served as a registered nurse, caring for many patients through the years. On July 17, 1971, Barbara was united in marriage to James Mike Spencer, and four children were born to this union. Barb treasured the tie she shared with James. She enjoyed sitting on back deck overlooking the mountainous trees. She loved her family very much. Barb also was a devoted Christian She will be missed by all who loved and knew her.
