Obituary for Bonnie Sue Potthast (Midgett)

Bonnie Sue (Midgett) Potthast of Potosi, Missouri, was born on April 26, 1945 at Leadwood, Missouri, a daughter to Marvin Edward and Hazel Louise (Turnbough) Midgett. Bonnie went to be with her Lord and Savior on Friday, May 20, 2022 at her daughter’s home surrounded by her family, having reached the age of 77 years and 24 days.

On June 1, 1974, Bonnie was united in marriage to Donald Potthast and one daughter was born to this union. Bonnie was a fun, loving and outgoing lady who enjoyed life. She always enjoyed playing trivia with the Bellevue Bombers Trivia Team, traveling with her daughter via road trips with her late husband and daughter and later with her son-in-law and friends, and was proud to have visited 46 states. She loved her daughter, Rebecca with all of her heart and always supported her in all her endeavors. Bonnie loved music of all kinds. Bonnie attended church at Belgrade Church of God and later attended Parkton Assembly of God while living with Rebecca. Bonnie always enjoyed being with her church family. Bonnie loved the lord and was always steadfast in her faith, no matter what storms life brought, she was not shaken.

Those who remain to cherish her memory include her daughter, Rebecca Potthast-Bundren and husband, Michael Bundren; Nelda Phelps and husband, Dwain Sr., Carl Elwood Midgett and wife, Doris, sister-in-law, Margie Brenner; world’s greatest dog granny to: Rufus, Penny, and the late Sheldon and Lucky. Bonnie also leaves behind many special nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends. Bonnie also served as an honorary mom and grandma to so many others.

Bonnie was preceded in death by her parents Marvin & Hazel Midgett; husband, Donald Potthast; nephew, Jeff Phelps and wife Donna; father-in-law and mother-in-law: Ray and Helen Potthast; sister-in-law, Ceil (Potthast) Denning and husband Charlie; brother-in-law, Thomas Potthast Sr.; and many other dear family members, friends and fur babies.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are directed to Farmington Pet Adoption Center 2901 US-67, Farmington, MO 63640 or Ninja's Fighting Lymphedema Foundation, 222 S Meramec Ave Ste. 202 - 1007, Clayton, MO 63105.

Visitation will be Tuesday, May 24, 2022 from 10:30 to 1 PM at DeClue Funeral Home, 301 East High Street, Potosi, MO., 63664. A Funeral Service will immediately follow at 1 PM with Bro. Mike Winick officiating, assisted by Pastor Monty Roark. Interment will be held in the Antioch Cemetery.

Funeral arrangements were respectfully entrusted to the care and direction of DeClue Funeral Home.
