Obituary for Bruce Alan Gray

Bruce Alan Gray, born April 26, 1948, in Bangor, Maine to Ernest Leon Gray and Hope Whitmore. Bruce went to his heavenly home on February 27, 2022, in Sullivan, Missouri, having reached the age of seventy-three years, ten months and one day.

Bruce spent many years in various businesses in Maine including opening the first recycling center after moving to St. Peters, MO. Bruce married Brenda Lister Martin in Eureka Springs, Arkansas March 14, 1998. While in St Peters, he worked for A&E Equipment, LMI, and Target before retiring. Bruce and Brenda left the city for country living in rural Washington County.

In November 2020, Bruce gave his life to Jesus Christ after witnessing a medical miracle in his friend, Eric Reynolds—life was never the same. Gone were the days of hot tempers and careless living. He lived for Jesus now.

Bruce loved his constant companions, his dogs, Sassy II and Cherokee Rose and his chickens. He loved his country, his MO militia, and President Trump. But, most of all he loved his Lord Jesus and his church family at Open Door Baptist Church in Desloge.

Bruce is survived by his wife, Brenda Gray; stepsons, Jonathan Martin of Marion, IL, Jeremy Martin of Mayfield, KY; eight grandsons; constant companions, Sassy II and Cherokee Rose; aunt, Dawn Partridge of FL; and many cousins.

Bruce is preceded in death by his parents; maternal grandparents, Mercy and Orean Whitmore; paternal grandparents, Effie and Ruban Gray; mother-in-law, Anna Lister Emerson; step-father-in-law and best friend, Kyle Emerson.

The family will hold a memorial visitation on Saturday, March 12, 2022, from 12 – 1 pm at Open Door Baptist Church, 202 State St, Desloge, MO 63601.

A Memorial Visitation will follow at 1 pm with Pastor Duane Hampton officiating. Full military honors will be presented by the United States Army.

DeClue Funeral Home was honored to have served and ministered to the family of Mr. Bruce Gray.
