Eugene Homer "Gene" Benson of Kirkwood, Missouri was born on October 20, 1938 in Potosi, a son to the late Lloyd Benson and the late Goldie (Lamar) Benson. On July 13, 1968, Gene was united in marriage to Rose L. Rector and they shared fifty-one years together. Gene passed away on Tuesday, July 7, 2020 at his residence having reached eighty-one years of age.

In addition to his parents, Gene is preceded in death by his siblings: Melvin Benson, Edward Benson, Connie Benson, Verlin Benson, William "Bill" Benson and Virginia Boyer.

Gene is survived by his beloved wife, Rose Benson; two daughters: Loretta (Ray) Street and Tammy Benson; siblings: Olan Benson, Ervin (Clara) Benson, Rose (Walt) Tyler, Lonnie (Shelba) Benson, Charles (Sandy) Benson, and Ronald "Beaver" (Tracy) Benson; five grandchildren: Nickolas (Ciara) Valentine, Nathan Valentine, Nevin Valentine, Amy Koenig and Jesse Koenig; three great grandchildren: Travis Valentine, Peyton Koenig and soon coming baby in January 2021; also surviving are many dear nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

Visitation will be held on Monday, July 13, 2020 at DeClue Funeral Home, beginning at 11:00 AM. A funeral service to honor Gene will begin at 1:00 PM on Monday, held in the DeClue Memorial Chapel. Interment and final prayers will be held at Sunset Hill Cemetery.
