Obituary for Gladys "Earleen" Blair (Williams)

Gladys “Earleen” Blair nee Williams of High Ridge, MO was born on May 18, 1937 in Blair’s Creek, Missouri to Ralph Williams and Goldie Marie (Kimes) Williams. She passed away in St. Louis, MO on Tuesday, May 16, 2023 at the age of 85 years, 11 months, and 28 days.

Earleen accepted the Lord at a young age and loved serving her Lord in and out of church. She served in many capacities over the years in Murphy Baptist church. She married Harry Model “Moe” Blair in St. Louis, MO on April 2, 1966 and they made their home in High Ridge, MO. Earleen was a mother-figure to so many who appreciated her never ending love, guidance and support. Earleen especially enjoyed helping with Vacation Bible School in her church. She always had a smile on her face, gentle kind words to say and a great sense of humor. She loved playing practical jokes, giving and receiving. Earleen immensely enjoyed overnight visits and spending time with her family members, having fun, telling stories and making memories. Her favorite response when her nieces and nephews told her to have fun with whoever she was staying with at the time was, “We’re not making any promises.”

Earleen’s bright essence, merry laugh, and deep love for others was never ending and will not be forgotten. Earleen will certainly be missed by all those she has blessed with her presence and love of God. Her last message to all of her family and friends was “I want to see you in Heaven.”

Earleen was preceded in death by her parents Ralph and Goldie Williams; parents-in-law Roy and Edna Blair; husband Modell Blair; infant brother Chilton Lester Williams; brother Verl Williams; brother-in-law James H. “Jim” Brand; Charles Blair, Harold Blair, Donald Blair, Mary Blair, Emily Blair, Ella (Sero) and Carol (Thomas).
She is survived by her siblings Wanda Brand of Steelville, MO; Norma (Ray) Hicks of DeSoto, MO; Bill (Mary) Williams of Cedar Hill, MO; Lynn (Nelma) Williams of Fredericktown, MO; Ron Williams of DeSoto, MO, and Karen (Delman) Hills of Ellington, MO; Special niece and God-daughter Dawn (Chuck) Phillips of High Ridge, MO; and numerous devoted nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
