Obituary for Jakie Guy Martin Sr.
Jakie Guy Martin Sr. of Doe Run, Missouri, was born on October 17, 1953 in Bainbridge, Maryland, a son to Jerrel Martin and the late Shirley (Hampton) Martin. Jakie went to his Heavenly Home on Sunday, September 4th, 2022 having reached the age of 68 years, 10 months and 18 days.
In addition to his mother, Jakie was preceded in death by one daughter, Stephanie Dawn Martin; two brothers: David and Gregory Martin; nephew, Gregory Treaster; and father-in-law and mother-in-law: James and Mable Wray.
Those who remain to treasure his memory include his loving wife, Joyce Martin; daughter, Jennifer Adams (husband, Jerry); son, Jakie Martin II (wife, April); father, Jerrel Martin; eight grandchildren: Victoria Hahn (husband, Jared), Allison Sigman, Emma Sigman, Brynnlee Adams, Jaden Martin, Hayley Martin, Jakie Martin III, and Jedidiah Martin; two great grandchildren: Jaxson and Oakley Hahn; siblings: Jerrel Martin Jr. and Kathy Waggner; son-in-law, Mike Sigman; and many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
Jakie proudly served his country in the United States Air Force from July 7, 1972 to December 1, 1974. He was owner and operator of Martin and Son Construction for many years. Jakie was very crafty and made many things through throughout his life. Jakie was a good dad. When his children were little, he enjoyed coaching his son, Jakie’s little league baseball team and teaching his daughter, Jennifer, how to roller skate. He was proud of both of his children and their accomplishments. One of Jakie’s favorite things to do was go fishing with his dad, Jerrel. Jakie enjoyed spending time with his family, especially for fish fry’s. He enjoyed cooking, camping, deer hunting and morning coffee with Joyce. Jakie loved the Lord. He thoroughly enjoyed reading his Bible and sharing the gospel with anyone he came in contact with. Jakie will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
A time of visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 6th, 2022 at HARVEST CHRISTIAN CENTRE, 1925 Highway 32, Park Hills, MO. 63601, FROM 5 TO 8 PM. Visitation will resume on Wednesday, September 7th from 9 to 11 AM.
Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, September 7th at 11 AM held at HARVEST CHRISTIAN CENTRE. Pastors Duane Hampton, Dwight Jones and Jakie Martin II will officiate the service. Interment will follow in the Pendleton United Baptist Church Cemetery, Doe Run, MO.
