Obituary for Kathy Laverne Jarvis

Kathy Laverne Jarvis of Mineral Point, Missouri, was born on October 18, 1949, in Cadet, Missouri, a daughter to Luther William Hamby and Rose Ellen (Barton) Hamby. Kathy departed this life on Wednesday, March 30, 2022, at her home surrounded by her family. Kathy had reached the age of 72 years, 5 months, and 12 days.

On April 2, 1965, Kathy was united in marriage to James “Jim” Jarvis and there were two children born to this union. Kathy loved being in her kitchen cooking. It was one of her favorite things to do. Through the years, she has been called upon to bake many different cakes for weddings, anniversary’s, and birthdays. In addition to her talented baking skills, Kathy was also very crafty. She made wedding and prom dresses as well as wedding bouquets and much more. Kathy loved her family with all her heart, especially her grandkids. Her family was her priority.

Those who are left behind to cherish her memory include her husband of 57 years, Jim Jarvis; son, David Jarvis (wife, Lori); daughter, Deanna Clapp (husband, Chris); six grandchildren: Mandy Bush (husband, Robert), DJ Jarvis (wife, Kadi), Meghan Clapp, Mikayla Jarvis, Bailey Clapp, Tanner Clapp; four great grandchildren: Dalton, Aiden, Annie, and Zarek; three siblings: Beulah DeClue, Pete Hamby, and Mary Christopher; nieces: Lisa Hayes and Kim Conway; great niece, Sheila Marler; special friends: Joyce Penberthy, Pat Medley, Kathy Silvey, Louise Newcomer, and Phyllis Koch; in-laws: Lena Mae Hamby, Lucy Hamby, Carl Crocker, Kay Hamby, Loretta Jones, and Jo Gilliam. Kathy also leaves behind many other nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.

In addition to her father and mother, Kathy was preceded in death by thirteen siblings: Norma Jean Hamby, Velma Maybelle Hamby, Verna Crocker, Loretta Brewer, Annetta Drake, Kenny Hamby, Luther Hamby Jr., Bobby LeRoy Hamby, Vernon Lee Hamby, Ronald Jerry Hamby, Orville Wayne Hamby, Walter Donel Hamby, Danny Hamby and Dorothy Mosier. Also preceding her in passing were many brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.

A Visitation for Kathy will be held on Friday, April 1, 2022, from 5 to 8 pm at DeClue Funeral Home. Visitation will continue on Saturday, April 2, 2022, from 9 to 10 am.

A Funeral Service will be conducted on Saturday, April 2, 2022 at 10 am, at the DeClue Memorial Chapel, with Pastor Jim Ainley officiating. Interment will follow at Jarvis Cemetery.
