Obituary for Norma Jean Eye (Neely)

Norma Jean Eye of Belgrade, Missouri, departed this life on Tuesday, April 13, 2021 at Mercy Jefferson Hospital in Festus, Missouri, having reached the age of 93 years, 4 months, and 2 days. She was born on December 11, 1927 in Desloge, Missouri, a daughter to the late Clyde and Laura (Dickey) Neely.

In addition to her parents, Jean was preceded in death by her beloved husband Bobby Eye on September 21, 2013; mother-in-law, Anna (Johnson) Collins; father-in-law and mother-in-law: Troy and Hattie (Johnson) Eye; brothers-in-law: Harold Norman Eye and Stanley "Teddy" Eye; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.

On May 21, 1945, Jean was united in marriage to Bobby Lee Eye and they shared 68 years of life and memories together.

Jean was a graduate of Belgrade High School, class of 1945. Before retirement she worked in the office of Brown Shoe Company both in Potosi, Missouri and Leachville, Arkansas. In addition, Jean also worked as an administrative assistant in the superintendent's office of Fox school system in Arnold, Missouri. Jean was also co-owner of Eye's for Antiques. She and Bobby returned to Belgrade and farmed for a number of years. Some of her favorite things she enjoyed were quilting, gardening, and most of all being a wife, homemaker, mother and grandmother. Jean will be missed by her family and all those who knew her.

Those who remain to cherish her memory include her daughter, Kathy Lawrence (husband, Paul) of Barnhart, Missouri; son Gary Lee Eye of Belgrade, Missouri; eight grandchildren: Trey Lawrence (Wife, Darla), Chris Lawrence (wife, Mandi), Sherri Bean (husband, Eric), Sarah Howell, Jeremy Eye, Josh Eye (wife, Angie), Christina Johnson, and Christopher Eye; two step grandchildren; twenty-one great grandchildren; and many dear relatives and friends.

Visitation will be held Thursday, April 15, 2021 from 12 pm until the time of her funeral service at 2 pm, held at DeClue Funeral Home, 301 East High Street, Potosi, Missouri, 63664. Pastor Kenny Qualls will officiate Jean's service. Interment will follow at Sunlight Cemetery, Belgrade, Missouri.
