Obituary for Paul J Politte

Paul J. Politte of Potosi, Missouri was born on April 7, 1946 in St. Louis, Missouri. Paul was one of thirteen children to Paul Politte and Laura (Owens) Politte. He grew up in Potosi where he attended school and graduated from. After high school, Paul was drafted to the United States Marine Corps. On February 7, 1966 and served until April 23, 1969. Paul was humbly proud to have served his country. Paul met the love of his life, Marilyn in 1983 and they shared thirty-nine years together. Paul worked for Washington County Road and Bridge for approx. 18 years. He Loved spending time with his family especially his grandchildren and was very proud of them and their accomplishments. Paul found joy in going on road trips with Marilyn and always enjoyed eating a good meal at Steak-n-Shake. Paul has left a legacy that will forever live on in the lives of those he touched.

Paul departed this life on Friday, July 8, 2022 at his home having reached the age of 76years, 3 months and 1 day.

Those who are left behind to treasure his memory include his one and only love, Marilyn Dickey; two sons: Kurt (Patty) Dickey, Kent Dickey and Tammy DeGonia; five grandchildren: Mandy (Keith) Kamper, Melissa (josh) Gagahen, Tera Dickey, Kyle (Tiffani) Dickey, and Ryan (Allison) Dickey; seven great grandchildren: Audrey, Grace, Kaiden, Lily, Rylan, Madelyn, and Marlee; sister, Dee (Vernan) Kitchell; and many special nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. In addition to his parents, Paul was preceded in death by eleven siblings: Olin and Delores Gibson, Leon and Nora Gibson, Donald and Jennie Gibson, Melvin and Lorretta, Alvin and Ruby Gibson, Ida Gibson Combs, Lillie and Floyd Benson, Leroy Gibson, Laura and Bill Robinett, Marilyn and Earl “Keeter” Skaggs, and Karen Sue Politte.

A time of visitation will be held Sunday, July 10th, 2022 from 5 to 8 PM at DeClue Funeral Home. Visitation will resume on Monday, July 11th, from 9 to 11 AM. A Funeral Service will be held Monday at 11 AM in the DeClue Chapel with Elder Leonard Compton officiating. Paul will receive full military honors presented by the US Marine Corps. and VFW Post 6996. Interment will follow at Redbud Memorial Gardens. DeClue Funeral Home was honored to have served the family of Paul.
