Obituary for Rev. Danny Owens

Bishop William Danny Joe Owens of Carthage, Missouri, was born on May 5, 1971 in Sikeston, Missouri, a son to the late Billy Max Owens and the late Lillian Dunnigan. Danny went to his Heavenly Home and was united with his Lord and Savior on Friday, February 12, 2021 at the age of 49.

On May 17, 1998 Danny was united in marriage to Joni Gail Kean, and they shared over 22 years of memories and ministry together. Danny, was first and foremost a Christian. He was an Ordained Bishop in the Church of God and Pastored all over the state of Missouri. Danny loved his family, Kentucky Wildcats basketball, the Kansas City Chiefs, and really all sports in general. He enjoyed playing basketball, softball, and fishing. He loves everything that had to do with world history and politics. There is a lot that can be said about Danny Owens. He was a caretaker, and listener, a secret keeper, a preacher, and a thoughtful gift giver. But his favorite roles were Husband, Father, Papa D, Brother, Son, and Uncle. Enjoy Heaven, well done good and faithful servant.

Those who remain to celebrate Danny’s life include his wife, Joni Owens; three children: Rev. Ethan (wife, Abigail LeAnn) Owens, Cole Owens, Abigail Faith Owens, and bonus daughter Makayla McCulloch; two grandsons: Sterling and Sawyer all of Carthage; four siblings: Ronnie (wife, Donette) Dunnigan, Chuck Tanner, Donnie (wife, Alletta) Wasson, all of Fredericktown, Sandria (husband, Mike) Hutcheson of East Praire; father-in-law and mother-in-law: Bishop Wayne and Robin Kean of Branson; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Bishop Brian and Rev. Tiffany Freeman, and Rev. Joey and Erica Rogers of Carthage. Danny will also be missed by many nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of church family.

Danny was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents: Willie and Gladys Owens; maternal grandparents: Ben and Ethel Dunnigan; father, Billy Max Owens; mother, Lillian Dunnigan; precious grandchild “Baby Butterfly”; sister, Bennie Cauley; brother-in-law, Kelly Wayne Kean; nephews: Samuel Rogers and Brayden Adams; niece, Elaina Rogers.

Visitation will be held Friday, February 19, 2021 from 5 to 8 pm at DeClue Funeral Home, 301 East High Street, Potosi, Missouri, 63664. Visitation will resume on Saturday, February 20th, from 10 am to 2 pm.

A Funeral Service will be held Saturday, February 20, 2021 at 2 pm held at DeClue Funeral Home. With Rev Matt Woods and Bishop Brian Freeman Officiating.
