Ricky Dale Akers of Potosi, Missouri was born on August 16, 1958 in Ironton, Missouri, a son to the late Kenneth Akers and the late Helen (Gillam) Akers. On July 23, 1983, Ricky was united in marriage to Sherry Gilmore and they shared thirty-seven years together.

Ricky passed away on Wednesday, July 15, 2020 at his residence having reached sixty-one years of age.

In addition to his parents, Ricky is preceded in death by his sister, Gayla Henry; and his granddaughter, Kenley Paige Jaycox.

Ricky is survived by his beloved wife, Sherry Akers; five children: Corey Akers, Joshua (Kendra) Akers, Stephanie Akers, Crystal Akers and Tracy Jaycox; siblings: Jim Akers, Kenneth Wayne Akers, Pat Marshall and Joseph (Kathren) Gollaher; several grandchildren; and many dear nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, July 19, 2020 at DeClue Funeral Home, beginning at 10:30 AM. A funeral service to honor Ricky will begin at 1:00 PM, held in the DeClue Memorial Chapel. Interment and final prayers will be held at Caledonia Methodist Cemetery concluding the service.
