Obituary for Shirley Jean Drake (Barnes)
Shirley Jean Drake of Spring Hill, Tennessee, was born on June 20, 1937, in Arkansas, a daughter of the late Francis Andrew Barnes and the late Gertie Lee (Lindley) Barnes. Shirley passed away on September 26, 2022, having reached the age of eighty-five years, three months, and six days.
Those who remain to cherish her memory include her two children: Barry (Kathy) Curneal, Gina (Mark) Barron; six grandchildren: Cody Mark Rebel Barron, Blake Harper, John (Mary) Jolly Jr., Melanie Pashia, Adam Davis, and Eric Cobillas; great granddaughter, Maddie Rollings; special niece, Karen Bourbon; and many other dear nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Shirley was preceded in death by her husband, John M. Drake, on April 19, 2019; daughter, Joyce Ann Ard; siblings: Gertrude Cunningham, Addie Johnson, JB Barnes, Zencie Rulo, JW Barnes, and two infant sisters.
Shirley loved spending time with her family and having everyone together. She found so much joy in taking trips to Branson. In addition, Shirley enjoyed thrift shopping, and listening to music, especially hearing her grandson and son-in-law play the guitar.
A visitation will be Monday, October 3, 2022, from 5 to 8 pm at DeClue Funeral Home. Visitation will continue on Tuesday, October 4, 2022, from 9 to 11 am.
A Funeral Service will be Tuesday, October 4, 2022 at 11 am, officiated by Elder Leonard Compton. Interment will follow at Caledonia Methodist Cemetery in Caledonia, Missouri.
