Obituary for Veatrice Louise Brooks (Stricklin)
Veatrice Louise Brooks, of Belgrade, Missouri, was born on April 2, 1945 in Bixby, Missouri, a daughter of the late Montie Lloyd Stricklin and the late Janie Elizabeth (Flowers) Stricklin. Veatrice passed away on Saturday, December 5, 2020 having reached the age of seventy-five years, eight months, and three days.
On April 13, 1963 Veatrice was united in marriage to Carl W. Brooks and they shared 54 years together.
Those who remain to cherish her memory include her ten children: James “Jim Bob” Brooks and wife Beverly, Ronald Brooks and wife Kim, Rhonda Beckmann and husband Eric, Sarah Burns, Joshua Brooks and wife Jesi, Ashley Luttrell, Nick Brooks, Brianna Howell and husband Thomas, Sierra Brooks, and Sue Durrant; four siblings: Leon Stricklin and wife Gracie, Sue Luttrell and husband Roger, Laverne Stricklin and wife Janice, Debbie DeClue and husband Don. Veatrice is also survived by a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and many dear friends.
In addition to her father and mother, Veatrice was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Carl Brooks; daughter, Martha McWhirter; granddaughter, Madison Hazel; siblings and in-laws: Bertha Hughey and husband Patrick, Alice Kane and husband John, Juanita Turner and husband Delmer, Charles Glen Stricklin and wife Dosia, Wilma Medley and husband Walter, Geneva Stricklin, Betty Stricklin, Junior Stricklin, Franklin Stricklin, Florence “Doll” Dunlap and husband Dan, and Sam Wright.
Visitation will be held Friday, December 11, 2020 from 11 am to 1 pm at DeClue Funeral Home.
A Funeral Service will follow the visitation on Friday beginning at 1 pm held at the DeClue Chapel with Bro. Mike Winick officiating.
Interment will be held at Sunlight Cemetery, Belgrade, Missouri. Funeral arrangements were respectfully entrusted to the care and direction of DeClue Funeral Home.
