Obituary for Verla Arlene Mahurin (Lawson)
Verla Arlene Mahurin of Potosi, Missouri, was born on January 5, 1936 in Hepburn, Iowa, a daughter to the late George W. Lawson and the late Dorothy A. (Swallow) Lawson. Verla went to her Heavenly Home on Thursday, February 4, 2021 having reached the age of 85 years and 30 days.
Verla is survived by her four children: Harriet Collier, Paula (Brett) Jones, Alan (Georgia) Smith, and Dorothy Smith; ten grandchildren: Lora Christen Reary-Roark (Terry), Josh (Chelsea) Cantrell, Gwendolynn (Thomas) Juliette, Wendy (Jeff) Sisk, Luke Smith, Jake (Megan) Smith, Jeremy Aubuchon and Holly Hampton, David Klekamp and Jennifer, Dalton Seim, and Dallas Seim; great grandchildren: Stephanie, Gary Jr., Jamie, Brady, Carson, Weston, Lathan, Lilly, TJ, Breanna, Tucker Ray, William, Maizy, Whitley, Jasper, Vivian, Jackson, Olivia, McKinley, Seth, Paige, Abby, and Kate; nine great-great grandchildren; siblings: John (Alana) Lawson and Lois Jeffrey; and son-in-law Mark Seim.
In addition to her father and mother, Verla was preceded in death by her first husband, Freddie Smith; second husband, Sterling R. Mahurin; daughter, Beverly Seim; grandsons: James R. Reary and Matthew B. Reary; brother, Gerald Lawson; brother-in-law, Joe Jennings.
The family would like to give a special thanks to Kindred Hospice Care, the caring staff at Potosi Manor and Georgian Gardens for the care that was given to Verla.
Visitation will be Monday, February 8, 2021 from 11 am to 1 pm at DeClue Funeral Home, 301 E High St, Potosi, Missouri. 63664.
A Funeral Service will immediately follow beginning at 1 pm in the DeClue Chapel with Bro. Bryce Wilson officiating, assisted by Elder Leonard Compton. Interment will follow at Sunset Hill Cemetery in Potosi, Missouri.
Funeral arrangements were respectfully cared for by DeClue Funeral Home.
