Obituary for Zella Mae Eaves (Wiggins)

Zella Mae Eaves, of Potosi, Missouri, was born on August 14, 1931 to Paul Wiggins and Mae (Laird) Wiggins. On May 14, 1947, Zella Mae was united in marriage to Glenwood Eaves and they shared 62 years of life together.

Zella Mae was a longtime faithful member of Glory Hill Assembly of God. She loved her Lord and Savior with all of her heart as well as his word. She was a humble servant of Jesus Christ. Through the years, Zella Mae served as a Sunday school teacher and played piano. Zella Mae loved her family. She enjoyed family dinners and spending time with her grandchildren who knew her as “Granny Goose”. She enjoyed the beautiful outdoors. On a nice sunny day, one could often find Zella Mae sitting by the creek fishing with her sons, Paul and Eddie. In addition, Zella Mae also found joy in canning jelly and blessing her family and friends with it. She will be greatly missed by all.

Zella Mae went to her Heavenly home on Friday, January 28, 2022 at the age of 90 years, 5 months and 14 days.

Those left behind to cherish her memory include her 5 children: Barbara Heflin, Edward Eaves, Myrtle Gladine Brown, Paul Eaves, Janice Golden (husband, Bob); thirteen grandchildren: Tom Thompson (Roberta), Bryan Thompson and Debbie, Michael Thompson, Christine White and Michael, Jamie Eaves, Tina Huskey, James Brown (Delaina), Michelle Brown, Kendrick Brown, Bobby Golden, Theresa Golden (Fiance, Chris Lands), Tracey Missey (husband, Kevin), Kevin Politte (wife, Tina); 19 great grandchildren, 19 great-great grandchildren; three siblings: Evelyn Heath, Arlene Fann, Lois Wade; and. Many. nieces, nephews, extended family and dear friends.

Zella Mae was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Glenwood “Groundhog” Eaves; infant son, Donald Eaves; daughter, Glenda Thompson and husband Larry; and seven siblings: Ellen Jane Marler, Cleveland Wiggins, Levon Wiggins, Ruth Ann Taney, Albert "Boots" Taylor, Gale Taylor, and Mary Lou Woods.

Visitation will be Sunday, January 30, 2022 from 5 to 8 PM at DeClue Funeral Home. Visitation will resume on Monday, January 31st from 9 to 11 AM.

Funeral Services will be conducted Monday, January 31, 2022 at 11 AM held in the DeClue Chapel with Pastor Matt Woods officiating assisted by Pastor Jack Fambrough.

Interment will follow in New Diggins Cemetery. DeClue Funeral Home was honored to have served and ministered to the family of Mrs. Zella Mae Eaves.
