Obituary

Joyce Strange went to meet her Lord and Savior and reunite with her loving husband Rolla on Wednesday, August 12, 2020 having reached the age of eighty-two years, eight months and three days. She was born on December 9, 1937 in Potosi, a daughter of the late James Collins and the late Ruth (Turnbull) Collins.

On March 7, 1959, Joyce was united in marriage to Rolla Strange and they shared nearly fifty-nine years together.

Joyce graduated from Mineral Area College in 1979 and practiced as a Licensed Practical Nurse for over 30 years. She loved her time as a nurse where she practiced in both the hospital and outpatient setting. Her most recent position was at the Washington County Health Department. She thoroughly enjoyed the patients and her friendships with all of her coworkers.

Joyce’s memory will be treasured by all who knew and loved her including three children: Jeff Strange and wife Dena, Judy Rahe and husband James, Jamie Strange and wife Kim; five grandchildren: Dr. Jeremy Strange and wife Joanna, Shauna Snow, Emily Gutierrez and husband Rick, Paige Rahe and Hunter Strange; two great grandchildren: Jeremiah Strange and Abigail Snow; two step great grandchildren: Abi and Kate Moller; bonus grandchildren: Chase and Ryder VanStavern and Heather Byrd; three siblings: Shirley Trokey, Phyllis Pratt, Mary Sitton and husband Kenny; In-Laws: Jerri Collins, Don and Jan Strange, Mary Strange, and Lohma Trokey. Also surviving are nieces, nephews, church family and many dear friends.

In addition to her father and mother, Joyce was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Rolla Strange on July 24, 2017; bonus grandsons, Alec VanStavern and Cole West; brother Bob Collins; In-laws: Stanley Pratt, Carl Strange, Charles and Mary Strange, and Frank Trokey.

Special thanks and gratitude to her amazing caregivers Rechelle Beck, Donna Kennon, Barb Portell, and Karen Strange. The family would also like to extend their thanks to Serenity Hospice Care especially Crystal Crocker and Kristi Merrill. They went above and beyond in their care. I lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (jdrf.org)
